 The Firm
Wilkin Chapman is the largest law firm in Lincolnshire with 232 staff and 33 partners. The firm has a total of seven offices in Lincolnshire and East Yorkshire with the largest office situated in Grimsby. The firm also has a dedicated Family Law and Mediation Centre in Grimsby and the other offices are located in Lincoln, Cleethorpes, Louth, Horncastle and Beverley.

Our aim is to offer clients quality legal advice with a personal service that is value for money.

The firm offers a full range of legal services to private, corporate and publicly funded clients, from conveyancing, commercial and agricultural work to family, litigation and courts martial.

Although the agricultural department is based in Lincoln, Louth and Horncastle are market towns and consequently the firm's agricultural expertise is particularly relevant at those offices.

The firm is organised into departments and branches, each unit headed by one partner. Department and branch personnel meet monthly in their teams and several in house training courses for each department are conducted throughout the year.

The partners have made a substantial commitment to quality standards across the practice. The firm has been awarded the new Lexcel quality mark by the Law Society and is the first firm in Lincolnshire to receive the new standard. The Lexcel mark means that Wilkin Chapman has successfully implemented the Law Society's Practice Management Standards, which are designed to help firms improve client care and efficiency within the office. In 1995, the firm was accredited as an Investor in People and holds the Legal Aid Franchise for all offices. As one of the first 19 law firms in the country to gain liP, Wilkin Chapman now benefits from the Law Society's recognition of this standard in terms of monitoring exemptions and CPD allocation. The firm also employs a Quality Auditor to audit and maintain quality standards.

The current Senior Partner is Philip Day. Julia Whittaker is the firm's Practice Director and is responsible for the operational management of the firm including accounts, IT, marketing and human resources. Julia is a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, hence the firm is proactive in retaining existing clients, extending its client base and developing new services. Examples of additional services include Telephone Legal Helplines, Tax Advice for individuals particularly with regard to Self Assessment and a Company Secretarial service.
